It just infuriates me.
J K Rowling is a storyteller.
That’s what she does. That’s her career. She tells stories.
Cursed Child is a story.
The Fantastic Beasts movies are stories.
So why, when she announces that she’s telling another story, do all these assholes tell her to stop? Assume that she’s doing it as a “cash grab”? Where is the logic in that?
It’s just small-minded, self-absorbed nastiness and it makes no sense.
No one ever says this about GoT which has become the biggest (and still fun!) cash grab in like the history of modern entertainment lmao

It infuriates me to no end. Even women can’t stand to see a successful woman. I also find it weird to see post-HP gen people making these criticisms. It wasn’t their era. They weren’t eating these books up during Girl Power era, which, while a marketing scheme, def made it that much more exciting as a girl to see a woman catapulted to success for creating something I loved. To have male friends and family members of all ages and walks of life just as excited by and into this huge worldwide beloved thing a woman wrote.
Peter Jackson & Studio have arguably dragged out the Tolkien stuff in a way more blatant cash grab (3 fucking movies for the hobbit?????) and the critique of that was half-assed and joking at worst.
JKR has always faced nastiness. I’m not saying she’s always perfect, but I very rarely see balanced critique. It’s almost always just downright nasty. It’s sad. I think she’s done amazing things for children’s and YA literature and she is amazingly socially involved, a model for paying her taxes, for her active involvement in and running of charities for often socially taboo things – like support for single parents, and not just parents who lost a spouse for whatever reason. She’s written fantastic adult mystery novels, and it’s exciting to see her getting a chance to work on a screenplay and bring her stories to the stage. Let people fucking enjoy it jfc and let her have her success.
A lot of her money goes to MS research, so if she’s writing more books for quick cash-grabs, fucking good.
(MS destroyed the life of my mother and family, just as it took JK’s mother’s life, so I have an extremely personal and VERY vengeful stake in ensuring her foundation makes as much money as humanly possible)
