With rumors circulating about Clara leaving in Face the Raven which is the one where Rigsy returns I’m thinking that Rigsy might replace her. He’d not a woman but it’d be cool to have more representation and shake up the usual new who companion template
Dollard said a while back that she originally didn’t intend to use Rigsy, but because she had a similar character it was suggested to her to use him and she jumped on the idea. That doesn’t necessarily exclude him, but it gives me the impression it was a more spur of the moment “that would be cool” thing.
Plus, I don’t think they’ll do a sole male companion with a male Doctor. They don’t want to alienate the female fanbase that way hence why the Doctor usually travels with women so they can have a female and male lead. But, I guess they could cast a companion duo. I would just hope that if they went that route again, there would be no romantic entanglements. Rigsy would be great to have as a male full time companion though!
I’d really, REALLY love to have Psi and Saibra as the next companions. Or Journey Blue!
