The Doctor and Harriet Jones + Actions and Consequences

Messing up with time always brings consequences. Harriet Jones was supposed to be Prime Minister for three sucessive terms and the Doctor knew that. By bringing her down, he made it possible for Harold Saxon (a.k.a. the Master) to be elected.

#AND HE DESERVED IT#just give me a second okay#the doctor has always had a trouble with overstepping his boundaries and acting like a god#ESPECIALLY ten in the post series 4 specials#and he rarely sees the consequences#he’s the doctor he knows best#but what a BEAUTIFUL CONSEQUENCE THIS IS#LOOK AT THE IRONY#the doctor decides that he knows what’s best for england so he messes with history#and instead of fixing england he leaves it broken for the master to snatch up#it’s wonderful it’s exactly what the doctor needs#it forces the doctor to reevaluate harriet jones and it should’ve forced him to reevaluate his actions#now we know this isn’t true because of the downward spiral he goes on#but i love series 3 in part because i love this#i love the doctor being forced to see what he’s done (via bisexualamy)

#Y E S  #i mean it’s annoying that the show wasn’t obvious about this  #i mean it does make sense if you think about it  #but it’s not ever fully explained in the context of the show which is a little annoying  #but gosh darn as much as i love 10  #tumblr thinks waaaaaaaaaaay too much of him and touts him as the ‘perfect’ and most doctor-y of the doctor and how the doctor SHOULD be  #and it’s just like  #no  #he’s as messed up as he’s always been  #he just does it with a scary amount of charm that allows him to seem like he’s doing the best thing  #i mean i think in part it was the way rtd framed the doctor during his run  #as a hero to end all heroes- except when he didn’t want to tell that story  #like yes the doctor is generally on the side of the good guys  #but he over steps and fails and just doesn’t /get/ some things  #which i think is sad that rtd only explored as a plot point really  #the doctor is and should be fallible  #he’s not the perfect hero  #not every challenge will be met with the perfect response that only leaves the bad guys hurt (via oimatchstickman)
