I HAVE A NEW LAPTOP AND IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING IN THE WORLD. IT IS SILVER AND HAS TWO CPUS AND 80SOMETHING GIGASOMETHINGS AND IT IS CALLED RODNEY.

I’M SO PLEASED WITH IT AND IT’S SHINYNESS I CANNOT STOP TALKING IN CAPS.

Annnnnnd today two kids in the shop where I work were doing Dalek impressions. And Star Wars battle droid impressions. See? If you love both those things, you get a double helping of yay-kids-like-our-fandom-ness.

Icon meme

Nicked from two or three people:

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of ’em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it’s interesting to you, and what significance it has.

everydaylj
Made for Talk Like A Pirate Day, a year or so ago. It remains my only POTC icon, until I can be bothered to upload my Jack/Anamaria one again.

everythingdieslj
One of the first Doctor Who icons I ever made. (Shows, doesn’t it?) I was too impatient to wait for someone to upload proper caps, so I went and screencapped off the Confidential on the BBC site. It wasn’t good quality, but worked okay for icons.

legolj
Speaks for itself, really. ;)

mickeyroselj
I think I just liked the colouring on this one, although it doesn’t look so good now. ;) I suppose it will be useful should I ever post a Rose/Mickey fic. Though there’s no text on it, it’s listed on the icons page as ‘home isn’t home anymore’ which pretty much sums up Rose’s situation.

hond5lj
My one and only Disney icon. This one is Phoebus from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is my joint favourite Disney movie. (the other one’s The Lion King)

m1lj
Of all my Mickey icons, this one’s actually my least favourite. I keep meaning to delete it. Bah.

triolj
This is listed as ‘Everyone needs a trio icon’. Which is very true. ;)

digimon15lj
DIGIMON! I uploaded most of the Digimon ones, I think, because the pictures were pretty. (And aww, Taiora. It was almost the H/H of its day, now I think about it.)

fireflylj
The Firefly intro sequence, with Joss Whedon’s name badly edited out. (Sorry, Joss.) Actually, there’s a much better one of these lying about somewhere. Maybe I’ll change it.

tip8lj
You’re scared. Admit it. (Toby from Doctor Who: The Satan Pit, in the process of being pocessed by the devil)

And…that’s it. :)

I am writing a very long fanfic and currently have run into several interesting dilemas. (the least of these being that I suspect I don’t know how to spell ‘dilema’)

The rules of this fanfic sort of dictate that my main OC (and her various friends) can’t be too heroic. The whole sort of point of her is that she observes events from the outside, like Elton from Love & Monsters. Except now Elton has actually shown up, and I have found something for him to do but am lost with the others. Right now there’s a very interesting but extremely tricky bit where essentially the choice is ‘either a) about a hundred people die but you and your family live, b) about a hundred people live but you and your family probably die’ It’s harder than it seems to write, simply because of all the rules I’ve set myself, and because of the fact that since this is set during the Dalek-Cyberman war there has to be a Deux Ex Machina for all the characters. Gaaaah.

I am also sick to death of describing things blowing up.

(I’ve been talking rubbish all day. I’m sorry! Although interestingly enough, this is helping me work everything out.)

I keep thinking I should explain the Reinette music video, although that is never a good sign of something if you have to explain it. So, it’s little!Reinette dreaming, right? It goes through her-as-companion (the bit with the Doctor standing against the TARDIS looking at her), and her seeing Rose and a glimpse of her future (that bit of Doomsday with her clinging to the lever) and then some of what actually happened in GITF, like the Doctor seeing into her mind (where he sees- or possibly she sees, I’m not sure- flashes of Rose, Sarah and Romana and what happened to them) and *takes deep breath* then there’s the bits with Rose and Mickey and all the New Series companions (Jackie included) over the words ‘I could do most anything to you’. So essentially, it is Reinette being warned in her dream, ‘IF HE WALKS INTO YOUR BEDROOM, THERE IS AT LEAST A 50% CHANCE THAT YOU WILL END UP CRYING ON A BEACH.’ And then at the end you see Reinette sleeping and Rose waking up, which is meant to say, ‘Hey! You thought all the sepia bits were Reinette’s dream, but maybe you were wrong and all the colour bits were Rose’s dream and I just didn’t tell you HA.’

…good lord that was a long explanation.

What else? Ooh, I watched The Producers (the original) last night. I saw it properly a few weeks ago and fell in love with it. Quote icons may well be coming up shortly. Currently I am bargining to take the DVD with me to university, along with Pirates of the Caribbean (when the friend I leant it to gives it back) and Spirited Away and all three Indiana Joneses.

The Dream- new video

Song: Somewhere A Clock Is Ticking- Snow Patrol
Characters: Mostly Reinette, the Doctor, and Rose, with Mickey, Jackie, Jack and Sarah Jane showing up along the way
Ships: Ten/Reinette, I guess
Feedback: Yes yes yes!
Summary: Seven-year-old Reinette dreams of the future, and all it does and doesn’t hold.

This one is…interesting. Especially the ending. Ask me about anything!
